Dublin Port host the Road Safety Authority (RSA)’s Shuttle Bus
28 July 2022
Yesterday saw Dublin Port host the Road Safety Authority (RSA)’s Shuttle Bus, giving port workers a chance to learn more about road safety, and also allowing them to interact with our new safety campaign, Dublin SafePort, which is supported by all seven of the port’s terminal operators. On board the Shuttle, port workers could practice their driving and hazard perception skills in state-of-the-art simulators and VR experiences; see first-hand the dangers of driving and texting and driver fatigue, and try out the brake reaction timer to see how driving environments and speed affect braking distances and learn about tyre safety.
There was an excellent turnout throughout the day as people tried their hands at all the Shuttle had to offer, with the motorbike and driving simulators proving the most popular attractions.
Dublin Port Harbour Master Michael McKenna said; “We are very excited to have the RSA Shuttle here today to coincide with the launch of our new safety initiative, Dublin SafePort. The attendance from all seven terminal operators reflects the cooperation we have had while working on the initiative.”
