Following the success of The Buttonmen in 2023, Gary Brown’s new show Dockers: Songs and Stories of Dublin Docks promises to be one to watch in 2024. Dockers presents songs and stories inspired by dock work and dock life, providing an insight into not only the hardship experienced by dockworkers but also the humour as well.

Following the launch of “Solidarity: The Dockers of Dublin Port”, an exhibition curated by the Little Museum of Dublin, Dublin Port Company is excited to host a shortened preview of Gary Brown’s upcoming show to a limited audience in the Substation, Alexandra Road, on Thursday, 25 January 2024.

Dockers is a one-man show written by Dublin playwright Gary Brown (a docker’s son) and stars acclaimed singer-songwriter George Murphy. The show contains new songs written by internationally renowned singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey as well as Gary Brown and George Murphy.

This exciting preview will showcase songs such as “The Buttonmen”, “The No. 7 Shovel”, “Decorate the Mahogany” and many more.

Doors open at 6:30pm. Show starts promptly at 7pm and runs approximately 1 hour.

Dockers: Songs and Stories of Dublin Docks will open in Liberty Hall Theatre on 18 May 2024.
