Some Jerseys Mean More – Dublin Port’s Partnership with Stella Maris FC
11 March 2026
Young players get surprise message from Brentford manager Keith Andrews in Dublin Port tribute to leading north-east inner-city club.
This week, Dublin Port shines a light on Stella Maris FC, a local community youth football club with deep roots, strong values, and a long-lasting impact on generations of players.
Stella Maris is widely regarded as one of Dublin’s leading underage clubs, with over 450 players, and it was a founding member of the Dublin and District Schoolboys’/Girls’ League. The club caters for boys and girls from early years through to under-18s and is known for combining football development with a strong community ethos and a focus on supporting young people.
The Port has supported Stella Maris for the past seven years, and the club is based at Dublin Port Stadium off Richmond Rd.
A Surprise to Remember
To celebrate the long-standing partnership with Stella Maris, Dublin Port recently held a jersey ceremony and released a video about the club featuring alumni such as Brentford FC manager Keith Andrews, ex-Ireland international Aine O’Gorman, and former Ireland manager Noel King – just some of the many Irish soccer legends with strong Stella Maris connections. Other notable names include Johnny Giles, Eamon Dunphy, David O’Leary, Troy Parrott and Gary Cronin.
What began as a simple jersey presentation at Dublin Port Stadium quickly turned into something more for the young players of Stella Maris, who were surprised with a special message from club ambassador Keith Andrews. He spoke directly to the next generation of players about the joy of football, hard work, community support and why some jerseys stay with you for life.
Edel Currie, Community Engagement Manager at Dublin Port, said: “Dublin Port works with many sports, education, and community groups in our immediate vicinity. We are delighted to build on our partnership with Stella Maris, who have a long tradition of developing young players and supporting young people in the wider Port community.”
Derek Moore, Stella Maris FC, said: “Stella Maris is about more than football. We believe in giving every child the chance to get the most out of the sport, in a safe and supportive environment. Dublin Port has stood alongside the club for years, and this partnership helps us to keep building for the next generation of boys and girls coming through our gates.”
Proud to Support the Game
Dublin Port is proud to support the hardworking heart of Dublin football — celebrating the people, clubs and communities that make the game what it is.
To celebrate its continued partnership with Stella, Dublin Port has also launched a competition for two pairs of tickets to see Ireland play at the Aviva Stadium on 31 March, against either Denmark or North Macedonia.
