Simeon’s future moves to the beat of Samba.

For Simeon, the Dublin Port Scholarship provided more than financial support while he completed his PhD in Music Education at the University of Limerick. While balancing work and study, receiving support from his local community gave him confidence that his research was worthwhile and could make a meaningful contribution to the community he came from.

Today, Simeon works in education and runs Masamba Samba School, continuing that connection between music, learning and community. The Scholarship also allowed him to learn more about Dublin Port and its place within his local area. It’s a connection that has stayed with him, and today he regularly encourages others to discover parts of the Port that are open to the public, from the maritime gardens surrounding Dublin Port’s offices to the Dublin Port Greenway.
