Passport Requirements for Travel to Britain from 28 September

From Monday, 28 September 2026, passengers travelling to Britain with Irish Ferries and Stena Line will be required to carry a valid passport or passport card when travelling on the relevant ferry routes.

The change applies to Irish Ferries services between Dublin and Holyhead, and Rosslare and Pembroke, as well as Stena Line services between Dublin and Holyhead, and Rosslare and Fishguard. Other forms of photo ID, including driving licences and national identity cards, will no longer be accepted on these routes.

Passengers should check with their ferry operator before travelling for the latest information on passport and travel requirements.
