Meet the Exporter: Gerry Sheridan from Ice Cream Treats
8 July 2025
Ice Cream Treats Ltd was established in 2013, in Killeshandra Co. Cavan, by Gerry Sheridan. From small beginnings with just two people, the company has grown to 20 employees creating luxury ice cream, frozen desserts, toppings for the domestic and export markets, specialising in concepts for retail outlets and restaurant groups.
The company sources locally from 3,100 farms across the country and is a gold member of Origin Green Ireland and counts Musgraves Retail & Wholesale Divisions, Whitbread Group UK, Tesco, and Lidl amongst its clients.
Gerry and his team have been exporting through Dublin Port for many years, working with logistics operators to cope with Brexit, Covid, recessions and more. Hear Gerry’s export story here:
Dublin Port is Ireland’s largest freight and passenger port, handling approximately 80% of all unitised trade (Lo-Lo and Ro-Ro) in the Republic of Ireland. Located in the heart of the capital, the Port sits at the hub of the national road and rail network and provides a world-class route to market for Ireland. In 2024, €165bn worth of trade passed through Dublin Port. The Port’s significance is rooted in both its location – 73% of freight is delivered within a 90 km radius – and its navigable deep-water channel.
Dublin Port handles over 15,000 ship movements annually and is a vital link in Ireland’s supply chain, enabling the efficient imports along with the export of Irish goods to UK and European markets, and onwards to global destinations.
