For Carl, the Dublin Port Scholarship helped make the move into third-level education more accessible. Growing up in Dublin 1, he saw first-hand the financial pressure that going to college can place on local families, particularly in communities where progression to third level has traditionally been lower. The Scholarship helped ease some of that burden while Carl completed his Computing degree at the National College of Ireland.
Today, Carl works as a Data Analyst with Dublin City Council. Looking back on his time with the Scholarship Programme, he sees its value not only in the support it provided him personally, but in the opportunities it can create for other young people from the local area who want to continue their education. For Carl, supporting students to take that next step is an important investment in the future of the communities surrounding Dublin Port.
