Dublin Port Company Re: Application for Foreshore Licence

In keeping with a commitment made in December 2001, Dublin Port Company submitted a new application for approval and consent under the Foreshore Acts 1933 - 1998 to carry out the necessary reclamation works to facilitate an extension of Dublin Port. A new Environmental Impact Statement accompanied this application.

This new application was made specifically in response to the wishes of the community and interest groups that had expressed genuine concerns that they would be unable to comment on or object to our previous application, which has been in place since 1998. This new application addresses this fundamental concern and interested groups now have full access to a right to object to the proposal.

The decision to submit a new application was made in December 2001 and was communicated to community representatives both verbally and in writing.

Dublin Port Company wishes to continue a process of consultation with all interested parties. To facilitate this, the Company has requested that the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources allows a period of six months before initiating the statutory legal four-week consultation process.

During the six months of this voluntary consultation phase, Dublin Port Company will engage with relevant interested parties in respect of any issues arising from our application.

The Full Environmental Impact Statement in PDF Format is now available on request from Dublin Port Company at info(at)dublinport.ie.
