A minimum of two hours notice is required when ordering the services of a tug. This notice is necessary as the tugs are not permanently manned and the time is needed to facilitate the crew making their way to the port and readying the tug(s) for operation. If the demand is such that there is a tug manned up and available, then that tug can be provided to a ship at shorter notice.
The order for the services of a Tug should be made as early as possible to facilitate planning. During office hours this may be done by contacting the Harbour Office by telephone at Nos. 8876033 / 8876028 or by e-mail: shippingdesk@dublinport.ie. Outside of office hours contact VTS by telephone at 8876070, by e-mail: vts@dublinport.ie or by radio-telephone (VHF Channel 12, Call Sign: VTS Dublin).
Cancellation or Detention of a Tug
a) Where a Tug order is postponed or cancelled with less than 2 hours notice a cancellation fee will apply.
b) Where a ship fails to arrive or depart within 15 minutes after the ordered time a cancellation charge will apply. A new booking will then be required.
c) Where a tug is detained for longer than the standard job time a detention fee will apply.
