During 2009 CLdN (Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Navigation SA) has introduced the concept of new build RoRo vessels carrying double stacked containers to link Continental Europe with the Port of Dublin. Today the Line operates two sailings each week from Rotterdam and two sailings each week from Zeebrugge serving the industrial heartland of Europe direct to Ireland. The ships are designed for the carriage of trailers, containers, tank-containers and other wheeled equipment. The Zeebrugge service is operated in conjunction with C2C, an established name on the Irish Sea for the carriage of containers from France and Belguim.

By using large RoRo Ships with a twice-weekly frequency, the service is able to compete with the landbridge concept that many operators have chosen for carriage of freight from Germany, France and Benelux to Ireland. The service has also sparked considerable interest within the automotive industry with reduced waiting time in the continental ports and a swifter direct delivery to car dealerships.
The Zeebrugge service is operated by the newly delivered Mazarine, a ConRo vessel, designed to allow maximum flexibility and capacity between containers and trailers. With a length of 195.40m and a beam of 26.2m the vessel is ideal for this route and with a service speed of 18.5 knots the vessel will offer a high level of reliability. The vessel's capacity is unto 359 units(containers, trailers and tank-containers). Containers can also be double stacked on each deck using a Translifter/Cassette system.
CLdN's Rotterdam service was launched with the Louise Russ. During 2010 she will be replaced with a further new build vessel, M.V. Palatine, sister ship to the Mazarine. A further four vessels of the same class are due for delivery in 2010 ensuring that vessel schedules will not be a problem for CLdN. The vessels can also carry up to twelve driver accompanied units which has proven popular with the exceptional load market.
CLdN's stevedoring services in Dublin are provided by the Burke Shipping Group at Alexandra Quay in Dublin.
