Dry Port

Elsewhere in Europe, dry ports are considered whereby goods are moved quickly (typically by rail or barge) through the port (to or from) an inland logistics centre.  The Masterplan is framed in the context of providing capacity to cater for the handling of 60m tonnes by 2040.

We welcome responses both in relation to the issues raised that we have listed and also to those that we have overlooked or not understood. You can e-mail us directly at masterplan@dublinport.ie or attend one of the public information events

Key questions include

What is the potential for the establishment of a dry port in Dublin?

What locations might serve as dry ports for Dublin?

To what extent could such locations be serviced by rail?

What potential is there for distribution by coastal feedering of goods to or from other Irish ports?
